The short version
- textmining.tech is a free, read-only directory. There are no accounts and nothing to buy.
- The projects and papers listed belong to their creators. Listing something here is not an endorsement, and their own licenses apply.
- Our data comes from GitHub and arXiv and refreshes regularly, but it can be out of date or wrong. Always check the source.
- Use the site normally and don't try to break it. If something listed here is yours and you want it changed or removed, email us.
This summary is for convenience. The full text below is what applies.
01Who we are and what these terms cover
textmining.tech (the “Site”) is operated by Artmap Inc. dba HackerNoon (“HackerNoon,” “we,” “us”). These Terms of Use (“Terms”) apply to your use of the Site, including the repository directory, individual project pages and the research page.
By using the Site you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Site. Where these Terms don’t cover something, the HackerNoon Terms of Service apply. If the two conflict, these Terms win for this Site.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Site.
02What the Site is
The Site is a free directory that helps people discover open source software and research related to text mining, natural language processing and information retrieval. It does not require an account, and you can’t post or upload anything to it.
The information on the Site is collected automatically from public sources:
- Projects: public repository details (name, owner, description, stars, forks, language, license, topics and dates) from the GitHub API.
- Research papers: public paper details (title, authors, abstract, dates and categories) from the arXiv API.
Rankings, categories, topic tags, “active” badges and related-project suggestions are generated automatically from that public data, mostly from star counts, GitHub topics and keywords. They are not reviews, ratings or recommendations.
03Third-party projects and papers
Every project and paper listed on the Site belongs to its respective owners and authors. HackerNoon does not host their code or papers. We link to them on GitHub, arXiv and elsewhere.
- No endorsement or affiliation. Listing a project, paper, person or organization does not mean HackerNoon endorses it or is affiliated with it, or that it endorses HackerNoon. Names, logos and trademarks belong to their owners.
- Their licenses apply. Your use of any listed project or paper is governed by its own license and terms, not by these Terms. The license shown on the Site comes from GitHub’s metadata and may be incomplete or out of date, so check the project itself before you use it.
- Use at your own risk. We don’t review, test or audit listed software for security, quality or fitness for any purpose.
Paper information is provided through the arXiv API. Thank you to arXiv for use of its open access interoperability. arXiv does not endorse this Site.
04Accuracy and availability
We refresh the Site’s data regularly, but numbers such as stars and forks change constantly, and descriptions, licenses and paper details can be inaccurate or incomplete at the source. Projects and papers may also be added or removed automatically as they cross our inclusion criteria (for example, 100 or more GitHub stars and not archived). The date of the latest refresh is shown on the Site.
We may change, pause or discontinue any part of the Site at any time without notice, and we don’t guarantee it will always be available or error-free.
05Acceptable use
When using the Site, please don’t:
- use it for anything unlawful, or in a way that infringes anyone’s rights;
- try to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorized access to the Site or the systems behind it, including through denial-of-service attacks or by probing for vulnerabilities;
- scrape or crawl it at a volume or speed that affects other visitors. All of our data comes from public APIs, so please use the GitHub and arXiv APIs directly;
- present the Site’s rankings or listings in a way that suggests HackerNoon or a listed project endorses you.
We may block access for anyone who doesn’t follow these rules.
06Our content
Apart from the third-party information described above, the Site’s design, code, logos and original text belong to HackerNoon and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may link to any page on the Site and share it freely. Please don’t copy the Site’s design or branding, or present the Site as your own.
07Corrections, removal requests and copyright
If you own or maintain a listed project, or authored a listed paper, and want something corrected or removed, email [email protected] with the page link and what you’d like changed. Because listings are rebuilt from public data, the most durable fix is often to update the source (for example, your GitHub description or topics). We’ll also exclude a listing on request.
If you believe content on the Site infringes your copyright, please follow the copyright process described in the HackerNoon Terms of Service or contact [email protected].
08Links to other sites
The Site links to sites we don’t control, including GitHub, arXiv, project homepages and HackerNoon properties. We aren’t responsible for their content, availability or practices, and their own terms and privacy policies apply when you visit them.
09Disclaimer of warranties
The Site and all information on it are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. HackerNoon does not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, secure or free of errors, or that any listed project or paper is safe, lawful to use or suitable for your needs.
10Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, HackerNoon and its officers, employees and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site or any third-party project, paper or site linked from it. Your sole remedy if you are dissatisfied with the Site is to stop using it.
11Indemnification
You agree to defend and hold harmless HackerNoon and its officers, employees and partners from claims, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Site.
12Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute relating to the Site will be handled exclusively in the state and federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
13Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the Site after an update means you accept the revised Terms. If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest of the Terms still apply, and our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it.
